Usus Antiquior celebrated in St Peter's Basilica

The Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite was celebrated at the Altar of the Chair today at St Peter's Basilica. It just happened to conclude a conference on Summorum Pontificum, which just happened to coincide with the publication of the Instruction Universae Ecclesiae.

You will find lots of pictures at Orbis Catholicus together with this youtube video:

In the mind of "modernisers" this probably just should not be happening. And yet future generations eventually find that which is truly theirs. See the many young relgious clerics in the procession!

The Church has a bright future ahead of it and this celebration shows in action what Universae Ecclesiae stated: the ordinary and extraordinary forms of the Roman Rite "are two usages of the one Roman Rite, one alongside the other." (no. 6)

On a related matter, Fr Z is conducting a survey of seminarians as to which form they would prefer to be ordained in, ordinary or extraordinary. At the current time there is a clear majority in favour of ordination in the extraordinary form, which possibility is not permitted under Universae Ecclesiae. But this too could change.

What is wrong with these young people???
